Bunsen Burner is a common piece of laboratory equipment that produces a single open gas flame, which is used for heating, sterilization, and combustion. The gas can be natural gas (which is mainly methane) or a liquefied petroleum gas, such as propane, butane, or a mixture of both.

The burner is a laboratory equipment with stand intact to a barrel like steam that is used as a gas burner to produce single blue flame. Its is used for heating, sterilization and combustion and this is achieved by the use of natural gas, methane, propane or butane.
Bunsen burner works by a combination of the incoming gas from the burner with oxygen from the atmosphere when ignited with a lighter the single blue flame is the produced on top of the barrel. Gas flow can be controlled by adjusting the gas valve on the Bunsen burner since the gas entering the Bunsen burner is directly proportional to the flame. Oxygen intake can be adjusted by rotating the collar hence the flame volume can also be controllable.
The are three types of flames (Silent blue flame, Yellow flame, Roaring blue flame) a Bunsen burner can produce but only blue flame is the most suitable because of it’s silent and invisible nature which is difficult to see in a well-lit room, it has a gentle heating property that is approximately 500°C. A yellow flame is considered a see through flame, safe but not suitable for heating purposes as it creates a deep black flaky substance as a result of incomplete burning of organic matter. Roaring blue flame is known as a very strong flame made of two cones and definitely not suitable for gentle heating purposes because of its aggressiveness.
Tripod stand and gauze wire can be used on top of the Bunsen burner in order to place beakers on top of it during heating process to create a well proper balance, when the beaker is finally hot or boiling a beaker tong can be used to handle the hot beaker out of the Bunsen burner.
