Spatula spoons are instruments/ apparatus that are used in the lab, as a sampling spoon, for measuring or transferring small amounts, as a scraper or for mixing and stirring of chemicals. The spoon can be used in many different applications. The double-sided multi-purpose spoon is a spoon on one side and a spatula on the other. This makes it possible to sample and process a variety of media such as powders, granulates, pastes and liquids. The spoon side of the spoon-spatula holds 4 ml or 11 ml respectively depending on the size. They come in several sizes, but there are three sizes that are mainly used, namely 150mm, 200mm, and 250mm. Even though they are made up of single piece of stainless steel, the spoon-spatula has no edges, crevices or undercuts, this ensures that product residue or cleaning agents cannot be deposited and the possibility of cross-contamination or impurities is excluded. There are variety of brands that are resistant to acids, bases, heat, and solvents, which make them ideal for use with a wide range of compound. That makes the spatula spoon ideal for use in chemistry, the pharmaceutical industry, cosmetics and the food industry.
There are other spatulas the are being widely used in different industries in variety of field. Those includes chattaway spatula, micro-spoon spatula, and spatula knife. They are all made up of stainless steel and they are designed in a way to prevent cross contamination and resistant to acids, based, heat, solvent, and/or other chemical or physical properties.
Chattaway spatula are also used in the laboratory with a different shape from spoon spatula, it has a flat on end and bent up on the other end to enable it to lift up small amounts of powder from a scrape down to the side of a container. Chattaway spatula is made from stainless steel for different laboratory mixing, stirring and agitation of acids, base and compounds. It is made from a chemical resistant stainless-steel.
